There were very few dry eyes to start the Tuesday, Sept. 18, Sedona Fire District Governing Board meeting. The meeting room at Station 1 was filled with firefighters as well as about a half-dozen Sedona Police Department personnel, all there to honor the quick thinking of 13- year-old Miranda Jones. On July 6, 63-year-old Brent Jones was driving through Sedona when he started to experience chest pains. He pulled into the parking lot of the Sedona Elks Lodge off Airport Road and almost immediately passed out after suffering sudden cardiac arrest. Miranda, who was with him, called 911. But in order to unlock her father’s phone, she had to put his finger on the phone because of its fingerprint recognition feature.
