VIDEO: On the ninth rainiest Phoenix ever, firefighters with the Scottsdale Fire Department rescued a man stuck in knee-deep floodwaters. The rescue happened near McDowell and Miller roads around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Three firefighters donned life vests and helmets and used a stick to help guide them through the moving water. Once they reached the man, they put a life vest and helmet on him and guided him to dry land. 12 News spoke to the man who was rescued and he said the water came on so fast. "I turned around and wanted to walk the other way, but it was too late for me," he said. Tuesday's rain was record breaking. According to the National Weather service, 2.24 inches of rain was measured at Sky Harbor Airport, placing the day in the top 10 rainiest days in Phoenix history.
