A public hearing on the annexation of the York Valley into the Duncan Rural Fire District is scheduled for Oct. 9. The hearing will take place at the Greenlee County Country Club beginning at 6 p.m., and all residents are invited to attend to gain an understanding of the issues and outcomes regarding possible annexation. “This proposed annexation, if successful, will affect residents and property owners in three important and different ways,” organizer Kevin Boling said, speaking with the Copper Era. First, the annexation would provide emergency response and fire protection for the area, which begins at the intersection of State Highway 78 and US. Highway 191, and extends to the existing district boundaries.
