A man was found dead inside a house that caught fire near downtown Phoenix Monday afternoon, fire officials said. The fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. near First Avenue and Papago Street, which is several blocks south of Buckeye Road, Phoenix fire officials said. Smoke was showing from the house when firefighters arrived, and they were able to contain the fire, officials said. Firefighters found the man as they searched inside, the fire department said. Phoenix police and fire officials were at the scene Monday afternoon investigating the cause. No other injuries were reported.
