Efforts to annex the York Valley into the Duncan Rural Valley Fire District have moved forward this week. Organizers of the effort have contacted the Copper Era to make an update on the progress of the annexation process. “At the Sept. 11 Duncan Rural Valley Fire District board meeting, the paperwork was submitted to make possible the annexation of the York Valley, Apache Grove and Sheldon areas into the Duncan Rural Valley Fire District,” Kevin Boling wrote. “The next step in the annexation process is to hold a public hearing on this matter. The Duncan Rural Valley Fire District will hold a public hearing Oct. 9, at 6 p.m., at the Greenlee County Golf Course clubhouse. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. Residents will be allowed to voice their opinions and ask questions.”
