Timber Mesa Fire & Medical District (TMFMD) has been operating under their expanded ambulance services area in Linden, Show Low, Pinedale, Clay Springs, White Mountain Lake and parts of Vernon since August 21. This expanded service area was granted to them through a Certificate of Need by the Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS). Show Low EMS who had been the sole provider of ambulances services for Linden and Show Low for the last 18 years, attempted a formal intervention in the process. Up until DHS’s ruling this summer, Timber Mesa Fire & Medical District (formerly known as Show Low Fire Dept.) was limited to providing ambulance services in Lakeside. Show Low EMS (SLEMS), a privately owned ambulance company, must now share the service area with Timber Mesa.
