VIDEO: A body has been found in the remnants of a large house fire Wednesday afternoon in Mesa.
The fire, near Gilbert and East Broadway roads, started around 6 p.m. and was quickly upgraded to a first alarm fire, officials with the Mesa Fire Department. The damage was contained to one home.
Police were initially unable to find the resident who lived there. An early report from the medical examiner says that the body appears to be an adult man. "The cause and manner of death are pending and the origin and cause of the fire is still under investigation," Mesa police said.
Fire investigators and the Mesa Police Department are handling the investigation.
