Investigators are searching a waste recovery facility in Galt for a hazardous material after 12 people were taken to local hospitals and treated for minor respiratory issues Friday morning. The Cosumnes fire department said that at about 6:30 a.m. they received a report of a strange odor at the facility at Cal Waste Recovery Systems, located at Enterprise and Industrial boulevards. A total of 15 people were evacuated from the building. The people taken to the hospital were treated for runny noses, coughing and watery eyes.
