Eight people were evaluated at LAX for minor respiratory irritation, and no one was transported to the hospital, after an American Airlines flight with mechanical issues landed Thursday, according to fire officials. One woman was initially said to have been transported her request, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
"Before entering the ambulance though, she changed her mind," the department stated in an updated news release.
The flight, No. 564, safely landed just after 11 a.m. at the Los Angeles International Airport, cameras showed.
The plane had mechanical problems, according to LAX's Katherine Alvarado. Additional details about the issue were not made available.
Eight people, including a flight attendant, were evaluated and treated at the scene for minor respiratory irritation, Fire Department's Brian Humphrey said.
They approached fire officials, and sought "medical advice after experiencing subjective respiratory irritation from an unspecified odor aboard the aircraft," the news release stated.
A man who filmed the scene at the airport said people appeared to be receiving oxygen.
"Pretty, pretty scary day at LAX,” Dean Sheremet said in the video. "Seems like everybody's OK. So, thank God everybody made it off the plane and everyone's safe."
