Brush Fire Ignites Motel in San Bernardino

California firefighters battled a blaze at a motel in San Bernardino Thursday night that was sparked by a nearby brush fire in punishing triple-digit heat. The flames tore through the Super 8 Motel in the 200 block of E. Hospitality Lane near Commerce Center Drive, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department. Firefighters responded to the blaze around 9:45 p.m., which began as a vegetation fire, firefighters said. Firefighters evacuated the motel while trying to attack the vegetation fire and the structure fire, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department. Flames could be seen shooting from the roof as firefighters battled the blaze. No civilians suffered any injuries. One firefighter suffered minor injuries during overhaul operations. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
