Hundreds of firefighters got poison oak poisoning while fighting the recent Whittier Fire and Alamo Fire in Santa Barbara County. Firefighters face several dangers when out on wildfires - whether it's smoke inhalation or the fire itself. There's one danger though that we might not think about and it took its toll and a lot of firefighters recently. Danny Haynes knew what he was getting into when he became a firefighter. "Poison oak is just a hazard of the job..there's poison oak on almost every fire we go on here on the Central Coast," Santa Barbara County firefighter Danny Haynes said. For Haynes that means he gets poison oak poisoning on just about every fire he goes to here on the Central Coast. "I'm one of the many that gets poison oak.. I get it pretty bad," Haynes said. "Pretty bad" might be an understatement.
