Santa Barbara County and Lompoc City firefighters responded to three different brush fires at the riverbed off McLaughlin Road in the City of Lompoc Wednesday morning. This now marks four fires in the city's riverbed in the past 72 hours. Lompoc Dispatch received a report of smoke showing in the area of the riverbed at 7:55 a.m. Crews managed to quickly put out the fires. Inch by inch firefighters cut down brush and trees creating a break line as they worked to contain three small spot fires. "If more pop up today or the next few days there may be an issue,” said Tom Himmelrich, a captain with the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
