The death of a reserve Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy while participating in the mountain biking competition at the 2017 World Police & Fire Games was an accident, authorities said Saturday. The coroner's office conducted an examination of Deputy Jacob Castroll, 67, and determined he died from blunt force trauma of the head and neck, according to the coroner's website. Castroll served as a reserve deputy since 2010 in the sheriff's Malibu-Lost Hills Station. Castroll was found about 9:40 a.m. Friday lying unresponsive on the Castaic Lake area race course by another rider, according to Deputy Ryan Rouzan of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
