A wildfire that erupted in Plumas County over the weekend led to the evacuation of an Oakland-affiliated camp, authorities said Monday. Most staff members for the Oakland Feather River Camp left Saturday, but seven who remained were staying with friends in the county seat of Quincy, according to a post on the camp’s Facebook page: “Everyone is safe, fed and has a place to sleep. More information will be shared as it comes in.” The Toll and Squirrel fires, which began late Sunday afternoon in the Plumas National Forest’s Oakland Camp and Spanish Creek areas north of Quincy, have burned between 250 and 300 acres, according to authorities’ updates just after 7 p.m.
