There is no official word yet what caused a massive warehouse fire in central Bakersfield Monday night that caused an estimated $400,000 in damage. However Bakersfield Fire says the cause has only been described as suspicious. The flames were first spotted around 6:45 by firefighters in the area along with a thick column of black smoke. They responded to the 900 block of Espee Street at 28th Street, north of Golden State Highway. There they found a warehouse engulfed in flames, threatening two nearby businesses and homes across the street. They were able to knock the fire down and no one was hurt.
