Cal Fire has launched a new app for smart phones that has the potential to save lives. Firefighters are expecting one of the busiest wildfire seasons in years and they want you to be ready. Grasses are now tall and dense after an incredibly wet winter. As those grasses dry out they become the perfect fuel for wildfires. Once a user downloads the new "Ready for Wildfire" app and signs up, it will notify you if your home is within 30 miles of a wildfire larger than 10 acres. Firefighters hope these critical alerts will help homeowners become more aware of their surroundings and able to act accordingly.
