Congressman Jim Costa introduced a new bill to help prevent wildfires. The Wildfire Disaster Funding Act would fund both fire fighting and forest clean up separately to ultimately prevent more fires in the future. Many foothills residents they said they live in beautiful areas but the dangers of fires are always on their minds. Each Friday Rod Meseke and his family work for hours rebuilding fences after a fire on their property last month. "It's scary. It reminded me of the movie Gone with the Wind when everything was burnt because that's how everything was," he said. He's lived in the foothills for 30 years and works hard to keep his home clean and free from debris.
