Firefighters discovered a 17-year-old boy dead and a second victim wounded when they responded to a garage fire in Hyde Park Tuesday morning. The fire broke out before 8:47 a.m. in a detached, converted garage in the 4800 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Crews arrived to find the garage engulfed in flames, but were able to extinguish the fire within 13 minutes. After dousing the blaze, they found a body inside, LAFD reports. The victim was later determined to be a teenager and one of four people living in the detached garage. A 22-year-old man believed to be the victim’s brother was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The circumstances and cause of the fire remain under investigation. There was no word on a financial estimate for the damage.
