Contra Costa County officials have charged a 36-year-old Pittsburg man in connection with more than 30 incidents of arson, including a sharp uptick in car fires last week. James Bishop III, of Pittsburg, has been charged with 2 counts of arson of an inhabited structure, 12 counts of arson of property of another, 11 counts of possession of flammable material and 1 count of possession of ammunition. According to Contra Costa Fire Captain George Laing, investigators noticed a sharp uptick in vehicle fires in the first week of April where an accelerant had been used.
