A Marin County firefighter was taken to the hospital with “non-critical” facial injuries after the fire engine he was taking to a vehicle accident crashed into a fir tree on Mount Tamalpais on Saturday, authorities said. Engine 1585, from out of the Throckmorton Ridge Fire Station, was responding to a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Panoramic Highway just after 10 a.m. when the crash occurred a quarter mile south of Bootjack trailhead, said Marin County fire Battalion Chief Bret McTigue. The engineer driving the truck was uninjured but the passenger, a 24-year-old seasonal firefighter whose name was not released, suffered injuries and was taken to Marin General Hospital.
