The Solano County Board of Supervisors unanimously decided Tuesday to ratify a proclamation of local emergency and approved appropriating the use of $1.5 million to cover an estimate in expenses, the result of the Atlas Peak Fire.
The fires, particularly the Atlas Peak Fire, started Oct. 8 in Napa County and then spread to Solano County, and remains an active fire. “Continuing the Proclamation would make Solano County eligible for any available state and federal disaster assistance funds,” according to county staff.
Tuesday the board held a special meeting.
“We’re here today for funds to cover the cost,” said Emergency Services Manager Don Ryan with the county’s Office of Emergency Services. “We need to pay our bills now so that the fair can continue to run and operate properly and pay the bills until reimbursement comes.”
