Residents in southern Novato are feeling some relief over a new national certification that puts residents to work to reduce fire risk.
On Sept. 19, Pacheco Valle will celebrate its new certification through Firewise USA. The program, overseen by the National Fire Protection Association, mobilizes community members to work with firefighters and other experts to reduce fire risks in their neighborhood.
Other Marin neighborhoods that have received the designation include the Marin Valley Mobile Country Club in Novato, Sleepy Hollow in Ross Valley and the Scott Highland neighborhood in Mill Valley.
As part of Pacheco Valle’s program, signs will be posted along Alameda del Prado to show the community has taken steps to prepare for wildfires.
