Two emergency response vehicles collided with a car at Florida Street and Sonoma Boulevard on Saturday morning, sending the first-responders on board to the hospital and closing the intersection for an investigation, a spokesperson for the fire department said. At approximately 9:48 a.m., an ambulance and a fire department Ford Explorer both responding to different “code 3” emergencies with lights and sirens flashing collided and also hit a Nissan Altima, the spokesperson said. The ambulance was traveling eastbound on Florida and the fire vehicle was traveling southbound on Sonoma. A battalion chief from the fire department and two paramedics in the ambulance were all taken to the hospital where they were later released with minor injuries, witness Bill Tweedy told the Times-Herald. The person in the third car was not injured, the fire department said.
