Hemet Fire Department Measure U funding closing firefighter and rescue services staffing gap

The Hemet Fire Department, with the help of the residents' passage of Measure U, is nearing full staffing at its five fire stations with two captain vacancies being filled in May and five firefighter-paramedics expected to begin their academy training in June, Hemet Fire Chief Scott Brown said. Brown and retired Police Chief Dave Brown in continuing reports before the city council have praised the city residents and council for their efforts in getting the Measure U one cent sales tax measure passed and the benefit it continues to bring to residents. Scott Brown announced the Measure U Staffing Plan and the Fire-Emergency Medical Service Department Staffing Plan at the beginning of 2017, after Measure U was approved by voters in November 2016.
