Two people were rescued after they got stuck at the top of the Sky Screamer ride at Scandia Family Fun Center Sunday evening. Members of the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the amusement park on Mariposa Road at approximately 9:24 p.m. after a 20-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy were reported to be stuck at the highest point of the ride. “They were restrained in an upright position approximately 160 feet up at its most vertical position,” County Fire officials stated. “Exposure to the elements were a factor with temperatures in the mid 50s and reports of both males being wet from a previous ride.” Firefighters worked with Scandia mechanics to try and trouble-shoot the system and, due to the height in reaching a lower platform which contained additional ride controls, a 100-foot ladder truck was requested, along with one of County Fire’s “Heavy Rescues, which brings a team of specially trained personnel to aid in the rescue,” authorities said.
