Searchers along a northern Mendocino County river recovered the remaining three bodies of a Southern California family that were in a vehicle when it plunged into the South Fork of the Eel River more than week ago, Mendocino County sheriff’s officials said.
Recovery divers found Sandeep Thottapilly, 41, and his daughter Saachi, 9, inside the family’s Honda Pilot during a search Sunday, officials said. Divers returned to the rain-swollen waters Monday and found the body of 12-year-old Siddhant Thottapilly about 6 miles north of the crash site, which is downstream, officials said. The discovery came three days after a body was found in the Eel River — a woman identified Saturday as Soumya Thottapilly, 38, wife and mother.
