The Auburn City Fire Department announced the passing of active duty Engineer Trent Lindholdt on April 10 at 47 years old.
Lindholdt had been fighting stage-four lung cancer since his diagnosis in November.
Businesses and community members came together from across Auburn to donate money during his fight with the disease.
After months, Lindholdt returned home on April 8. He spent his last two days surrounded his wife, family and brothers from fire departments all over Placer and Nevada counties.
Lindholdt was a firefighter for 27 years. He start in the U.S. Forest Service, then moved to Lincoln, Rocklin, and spent the last 20 years of his career with the Auburn City Fire Department as an engineer.
He loved serving his community and was a mentor to every new firefighter that walked through the door, the department said.
Services for Lindholdt will begin at 11 a.m. April 27 at Bayside Church in Granite Bay.
