A GoFundMe account set up for a fallen California firefighter far exceeded its initial goal, and donations continue to roll in. The most recent donation was just six days ago, bringing the total to $184,315 in funds raised to support the family of Capt. Brian Hughes. On July 29, he died in the line of duty while battling the Ferguson Fire in Mariposa County. $5,000 was the initial goal for the fundraiser started by the Arrowhead Interagency Hotshots, which Hughes was a part of. The GoFundMe page says, "The Arrowhead family would now like to ask the community to come together to help support his family. All donations will be given directly to his fiance Paige and their unborn child to help with anything they might need in their future."
