A trash truck hit a planter, a parked van then crashed into a Temple City town home Thursday morning. Sgt. Tom Harris of the sheriff’s Temple station said the cab of the Athens Services truck ended up inside the residence. He said a couple and their cat were home at the time but were not injured. Firefighters freed the trapped driver and took him to a local hospital as a precaution, according to Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Randall Wright. Deputies don’t know yet why the garbage truck crashed in the 6100 block of Rosemead Boulevard around 5:40 a.m. Authorities red-tagged the 2-story town home, according to Wright. Harris said the truck also damaged a gas line and a water main. A spokesman for Athens Services couldn’t be reached for comment Thursday.
