The life of a fireman can be both challenging and rewarding. And for the Riverside Fire Department’s Station 4, very busy. The unit, which consists of three shifts, led the department in 2017 with 3,563 calls, which range from fighting fires to medical emergencies to rescues.
“When you work at this station, historically, it’s one of our busiest stations,” said Capt. Brian Guzzetta, a 22-year firefighter who has been in charge of his shift — the “B” shift — at Station 4 for six months. “Sometimes we flip-flop with other stations in the city, but based on call volumes its something when you work here at this station you anticipate.
