Fairfield Battalion Chief Larry Palmer has served his community for nearly 18 years with dedication and without complaint.
Earlier this month he was rewarded for his efforts, as he was named his department’s Fire Officer of the Year.
“It’s a passion of mine to help people,” he shared Wednesday.
A few years out of high school as he searched for a career, the Walnut Creek native indulged his need to help others and became an emergency medical technician.
For seven years he served with a local ambulance company as a paramedic before transferring over to firefighting.
“It was a natural progression,” he explained. “And I’m still a paramedic.”
