Two people accused of stealing a fire engine Saturday in Sacramento County and driving it to Butte County appeared in court Wednesday.
Candice Scollard, 35, of Quincy, and David Carcalete, 26, of Rio Lindo, were arraigned on charges charges of stealing an emergency vehicle, recklessly evading pursuing law enforcement and resisting arrest.
Judge Jesus Rodriguez set bail of $67,000 for Scollard and $68,000 for Carcalete, and scheduled further arraignment for Thursday. A public defender was assigned for Scollard, but Carcalete said he wanted to represent himself. Rodriguez was to rule on that Thursday morning.
