Three people, including a firefighter, were injured as firefighters battled a brush fire that erupted beside Pittsburg-Antioch Highway, authorities said. The fire threatened several structures, including a nearby junkyard, and smoke in the area led to the closure of the highway.
Firefighters with the federal Military Ocean Terminal-Concord assisted with a water tender, and East Contra Costa firefighters also responded. No cause was immediately available. In an advisory, county health and fire officials said “people with respiratory sensitivities may be affected by the fire, which it said started at an auto-wrecker facility.
