Firefighters were battling a four-acre brush fire in Alpine Tuesday morning that was threatening two homes, a Cal Fire spokesman said.
The fire was reported near Huey Lane and Tavern Road around 9:50 a.m. Fire crews were on scene and were quickly knocking flames down, Cal Fire spokesman Issac Sanchez said.
Earlier in the morning, crews quickly doused a brush fire in Campo that ignited near Old Highway 80 and Miller Valley Road.
That fire was reported around 9:15 a.m. and firefighters were able to knock it down with the initial crews that were dispatched, Sanchez said.
Firefighters were expected to remain on scene for about an hour handling mop up, Sanchez said.
The cause of the two fires was not immediately known.
