The Butte County Cal Fire team two people who were reportedly trapped inside a structure fire, in the community of Cherokee. According to officials, firefighters responded to a structure in the 3500 block of Cherokee Road around 9 a.m. Saturday. When the first teams arrived on scene they reported the structure was 50 percent involved in the fire. Officials said that initial reports stated that a person was trapped inside and firefighters were quick to start searching the building. Firefighters later reported that they had rescued two occupants and were being treated for smoke inhalation. Crews went to work attacking the fire once the building was cleared. Shortly before 9:50 a.m., Cal Fire reported that the fire was contained. Firefighters will remain at the scene for several hours mopping up.
