Since Wednesday, Cal Fire crews from the Siskiyou Unit have been battling the Shastina Fire between Weed and Grenada.
Suzi Brady, Information Officer for Cal Fire Siskiyou Unit, says the fire is burning on the top of a hill surrounded by grass and vegetation, but no structures are threatened. The fire is between 50% and 60% contained according to Brady and the Cal Fire Facebook page as of Friday morning.
"[Crews are] just removing some snags, falling some juniper trees and just reassuring the lines to make sure, you know, nothing heats up and comes outside our containment lines," Brady said.
Brady says crews hope to have the fire contained fully Friday night.
