The Fresno Fire Department is celebrating a fire captain during his last day on the job.
Capt. Rudy Guadiana retired Wednesday after 28 years of service.
For a decade before that, he was responding to calls with the North Central Fire Protection District.
Guadiana decided to become a firefighter after attending a career day, and he says it's the best decision he's ever made.
"You know it's an opportunity to help people, I mean you see them at their worst. They're happy to see us and we provide a great service, nothing better than doing that," Guadiana says.
Guadiana's 12-hour shift ends Wednesday at 8 p.m, and he says he's looking forward to a full night's sleep.
