Firefighters put down a stubborn fire Sunday involving some combustible pallets, baled goods and rubbish outside a recycling facility in Van Nuys, which extended into an adjacent bus storage yard and destroyed six empty school buses. There was no structural damage, and no injuries were reported, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The department dispatched 53 firefighters to the scene at 14769 Raymer St. The fire was knocked down in about 72 minutes, Humphrey said. A cause of the fire remained under investigation. The school buses belong to Student Transportation Co., said a photographer at the scene.
