A man was arrested Sunday after the Shasta County Sheriff's Office says he refused commands from deputies and delayed firefighters from extinguishing the fire that engulfed his home and threatened nearby homes. Deputies said at approximately 9:00 a.m., SHASCOM received a call from a man, later identified as Randy Fisher, 53, saying he was armed with a 357 magnum pistol and was shooting it off. Fisher also said he started a fire to his house by blowing it up. Officials said Fisher then became very uncooperative with the SHASCOM call taker and said he would put his firearms in the dryer when law enforcement arrived at his home, which was located at 6575 Turtle Lane. Due to the strange call, Shasta County Sheriff's deputies along with Cal Fire responded to the home. When they arrived on scene, no fire was seen and a deputy was able to speak with Fisher by phone.
