A stubborn, smoldering fire led to significant damage at a restaurant at Long Beach Towne Center after firefighters had to cut through the roof to get to it Saturday morning, Jan. 19, authorities said.
About 6 a.m., Long Beach firefighters were dispatched to Island’s Restaurant in the 7500 block of Carson Street on two reports of light Firefighters arrived and saw smoke from the attic at the base of the roof line, Fisk said. The fourth-alarm fire brought upwards of 70 firefighters for man power and the fire was knocked down just before 6:30 a.m., Fisk said.
