After the Fort Morgan City Council on Tuesday night approved a resolution affirming the vote of the Fort Morgan Volunteer Fire Department to re-appoint Erik Christensen as fire chief, he told the council about the other changes the department voted upon, as well as the high level of fires in the city of late. He said the department has been quite busy fighting fires that sprung up in buildingsDJ Eicher, who is the city's fire marshal, will serve as the new first lieutenant/public information officer. Zach Deal will be the second lieutenant and hospitality officer. Erik Sagel takes over as the fire department's secretary. Tanya Koch will still be the city's paid administrative assistant for the fire department, though, Christensen said. And the department's new trustee, who will serve for six years, is Jeff Brown, Christensen told the council. The council and City Manager Jeff Wells thanked Christensen and all the volunteer firefighters for all their efforts. "We do have an exceptional fire department and they do a very good job," Wells said. "All of the people over there, including the chief, are volunteers."
