The whirring blades of Black Hawk helicopters assault the senses. They can be heard chopping through the air and their size commands the eye. On Sunday, you could feel the spray they kicked up at the Button Rock Preserve Reservoir in Boulder County. These aircraft operated by Colorado Army National Guard soldiers are preparing for Colorado’s wildfire season. “No matter what the fire season is, we’re always going to train like it’s the worst fire season ever,” Boulder Wildland Fire Administrator Dave Zader said.
