A former Norwalk firerfighter will serve three years in prison after pleading guilty Friday to four counts of selling narcotics to undercover police officers.
Judge Richard Comerford imposed the sentence at state Superior Court in Stamford. The former firefighter, Mark Monroe, is to begin serving his sentence on Feb. 15, which will be followed by 10 years of special parole.
Comerford told Monroe that each of the four charges carries a potential sentence of 15 years, and said that if he did not return to court Feb. 15, he would impose the maximum sentence of 60 years.
Monroe was represented by Norwalk attorney Michael Corsello.
“Even public servants can run into problems with substance abuse,” Corsello said in court. “That’s what led him down this path. He lost the job he loved ... He is very remorseful at all the hurt he has caused to his family and others.”
