A local fire protection company hosted a demonstration Thursday to emphasize the difference fire sprinklers, commonly installed in businesses, can make during a house fire.
The demonstration at K&M Fire Protection, near the intersection of West Street, Marion Avenue and West Main Street in Plantsville, was held as part of a safety field day for employees. It included controlled fires in two trailers that were filled with furniture, curtains, and other household items. One room had an overhead sprinkler, while the other didn’t.
The demonstration was led by Keith Flood, West Haven’s fire marshal and chairman of the Connecticut Fire Sprinkler Coalition.
