A local man faces charges after police said he lit a car on fire in the parking lot of the Tilcon quarry Saturday.
Edward Pahde, 51, of 126 New Britain Ave., was arrested on Saturday and charged with first-degree arson, first-degree reckless endangerment, carrying a dangerous weapon and second-degree breach of peace.
On Saturday around 8 p.m. police responded to a car fire in the parking lot of Tilcon, 590 Black Rock Ave., according to a police report. Officers that responded saw a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta in the lot with flames near the gas cap area, the report said. Officers said there appeared to be a rag in the gas filler pipe.
After extinguishing the fire, fire crews found what they believed to be camping fuel on the ground under the car, the report said.
