Two new recruits to the Greenwich Fire Department come from varied backgrounds.
Adam Corwin has previous experience as a professional firefighter, developing a number of specialties in his career. Frank O’Connor was already working for the town as a member of the Parks and Recreation Department, and he did a stint in the Peace Corps.
Both were sworn into the department as recruits on Monday morning at fire headquarters.
Corwin has been a volunteer firefighter since 2003, when he joined the Millwood Fire Department in northern Westchester County, N.Y. He began work as a professional firefighter in Prince George’s County, Md., in 2007. Corwin is a rescue specialist and worked on a technical-rescue team previously in his career. He has a bachelor’s degree from Full Sail University. His father was a former fire chief. Corwin said he likes working on different kinds of firefighting challenges.
