In the event of a major incident such as a hurricane or train crash, first responders in area communities will be ready to go.
A high-level training program held at Old Mystic Station 1 on North Stonington Road this week is helping first responders from throughout the state learn the skills they need to better organize their response and provide long-term solutions to help the affected communities return to normal as quickly as possible, according to Old Mystic Fire Chief Kenneth Richards Jr.
“This was a rare opportunity and we are excited to be able to bring it to Old Mystic,” Richards said on Wednesday. “This is an intensive, 40-hour course that will provide responders with the information they need to better organize multiple agency response, including offering advice for the proper process to enhance recovery, such as what paperwork is needed to receive funding” from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
