A Stuart Street family has been displaced after a Thursday morning fire. The Newington Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze at 35 Stuart St. shortly before 11 a.m. No injuries were reported. Fire Chief Chris Schroeder said that it started in the home’s attic. “The cause is still undetermined at this time but it looks like an accidental fire,” he said Thursday afternoon. “The family is unable to return to their home but have made arrangements and have a place to stay in town.” Residents had already evacuated the structure when firefighters arrived, according to the chief. The family pet was rescued by responders.
