garbage truck fire on I-84 east in Hartford snarled traffic at the end of the Friday morning commute. Trash in the back of the truck was spilling onto the highway and fully engulfed in flames about 8:30 a.m. near Exit 46. Traffic was stopped so firefighters could put the fire out. No one was injured, state police said. The fire was mostly out by 8:45 a.m. Traffic delays continued because only one or two eastbound lanes were open while the messy scene was cleaned up.
