A man accused of torching a historic home near Townsend where his daughters lived has been convicted of arson. Last week, a New Castle County Superior Court jury returned guilty verdicts against Christopher Gregg for third-degree arson and two counts of second-degree arson. Gregg, 42, was accused of burning the home where his daughters lived near Townsend last year. The blaze occurred on a November morning, hours after Gregg ransacked his daughter's bedroom, turning furniture over and throwing clothing and objects out a second-floor window, according to court documents. It was the most recent in a series of arrests for Gregg that included other charges of arson. The home is known as the Vandyke-Heath House at 385 Greenspring-Vandyke Road. It was built in phases with the earliest construction in the late 18th century, according to National Register of Historic Places documents.
